Terms of Use
By creating an account or using Platru ("the Service") you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
The Service
Platru helps you organize and understand your personal finances — importing transactions, statements, invoices (including Costa Rican electronic invoices), and receipts, including, with your explicit authorization, by reading relevant financial emails from your connected Gmail account and extracting structured data from them. You can sign in with an email and password, with Google, or (in the mobile app) with Apple. Platru also offers an assistant ("Ask Platru") that answers questions about your own records. Platru is offered to users in Costa Rica and elsewhere in the Americas; some features may vary by region.
Platru is currently provided free of charge; we will give you notice before introducing any fees.
Eligibility & accounts
- You must be at least 18 (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher) and able to form a binding contract.
- You're responsible for your credentials and activity under your account. Tell us promptly of any unauthorized use.
Connecting Google / Gmail
- Connecting Gmail is optional and governed by the permissions you grant on Google's consent screen. You may revoke access at any time via your Google account or by disconnecting in Platru.
- We access only the email categories needed to provide import features and handle that data per our Privacy Policy and the Google API Services User Data Policy. Our access is read-only: we cannot modify, label, delete, or send mail from your account. Platru's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The use of information received from Google Workspace scopes will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Connecting Gmail is optional to Platru, though not to signing in with Google. Signing in with Google grants Gmail access as a single authorization. To use Platru without connecting a mailbox, create an account with email and password instead. You can disconnect Gmail at any time.
- To find financial emails our keyword filters miss, our AI processor may classify the subject lines and sender addresses — never the bodies — of the other emails in a scanned window. See the Privacy Policy for the full description and how to turn it off. Classification can miss or misjudge emails.
AI-assisted extraction — accuracy & your responsibility
- Platru uses automated and AI-assisted methods to read documents and emails and extract financial data. These methods can be wrong (misread amounts, dates, categories).
- While your Gmail is connected, scanning runs continuously in the background and automatic import is on by default: charges that pass our safety checks are added to your ledger without a manual step, and you are notified of each one. You can turn automatic import off in the app's Gmail settings.
- Extracted data — imported automatically or after your manual review — is provided for your review; you are responsible for verifying it before relying on it. Platru is not a bank or financial institution in the deposit-taking sense, and is not a substitute for professional accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice. We do not make credit, lending, or eligibility decisions about you.
- Answers generated by Platru's assistant ("Ask Platru") are AI-generated from your own records, may be incomplete or wrong, and are not financial advice.
Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service unlawfully; access accounts or data that aren't yours; upload another person's mailbox or financial data without authorization; attempt to breach, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service; or use it to build a competing dataset.
Your content
You retain ownership of the data and files you provide or import. You grant us a limited license to process them solely to provide the Service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You're responsible for having the right to provide that data.
Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties (Google, OpenAI, AWS). Your use of their parts is also subject to their terms; we're not responsible for their services.
Availability & changes
The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and we may update these Terms; continued use after changes means acceptance, subject to any notice your local law requires.
Disclaimers & limitation of liability
- To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of extracted data.
- To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Platru Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions made in reliance on extracted data; total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
- Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under your local law (e.g. consumer-protection rights in Costa Rica and other jurisdictions).
Termination
You may stop using and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or to protect the Service or other users.
Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, with disputes subject to the state and federal courts located in Delaware. This does not deprive you of the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence where applicable.
Language
These Terms are written in English. Where we provide a translation for your convenience, the English text controls in case of any difference.
